Roundabout Theatre Company

Over the past 42 years, Roundabout has grown from a small 150-seat theatre in a converted supermarket basement to become one of the country’s largest not-for-profit theatres and one of New York City’s premier cultural institutions. Our mission is to team great theatrical works with the industry’s finest artists in an effort to re-energize classic plays and musicals; develop and produce new works by today’s great writers and composers; provide educational programs that will enrich the lives of children and adults; and retain a loyal and diverse audience through a commitment to the subscription concept. Through our critically acclaimed Broadway and Off-Broadway productions we reach more than 500,000 people annually, including 43,000 subscribers.

Roundabout currently operates three unique theatres: American Airlines Theatre on 42nd Street, the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre, and Studio 54. Since moving to Broadway in 1991, our work has been honored with 22 Tony Awards, 34 Drama Desk Awards, and 38 Outer Critics Circle Awards. Recent productions include Les Liaisons Dangereueses, Sunday in the Park with George, Pajama Game, The Apple Tree, and 110 in the Shade. Dozens of Hollywood and American Theatre artists have performed in Roundabout productions – Alec Baldwin, Matthew Broderick, Harry Connick, Jr., Claire Danes, Blythe Danner, Stockard Channing, Anthony Hopkins, Nathan Lane, Laura Linney, Natasha Richardson, Martin Short, to name a few.
